Spun Para Aramid
Para-aramid is a well-known form of polyaramid fibre (polyparaphenylene terephthalamide) related to nylon in that it is formed of polyamide.
The difference between Para-aramid and nylon is that nylon has a carbon chain linkage with the amide structure whereas the polyaramids have a phenyl linkage. Para-aramid is distinguished from Meta-aramid because it connects at the para-position of the phenyl link.
Wilkie manufacture our own Para Aramid yarn in our purpose built facility in Jiaxing, China whereby we twist Para Aramid fibres together to make a cohesive thread, or "single”. These singles are then plied together to create a plied yarn.
Wilkie have the ability to manufacture up to 4 ply yarn.
