USE CASES

We manufacture technology from Para-aramid that revolutionises the protective cover market, composite bearing market, personal protection and armour market and marine market that, in turn, have positive impacts on our everyday life.

Spun Para Aramid

Para-aramid is a well-known form of polyaramid fibre (polyparaphenylene terephthalamide) related to nylon in that it is formed of polyamide.

The difference between Para-aramid and nylon is that nylon has a carbon chain linkage with the amide structure whereas the polyaramids have a phenyl linkage. Para-aramid is distinguished from Meta-aramid because it connects at the para-position of the phenyl link.

Wilkie manufacture our own Para Aramid yarn in our purpose built facility in Jiaxing, China whereby we twist Para Aramid fibres together to make a cohesive thread, or "single”. These singles are then plied together to create a plied yarn.

Wilkie have the ability to manufacture up to 4 ply yarn.
